Brokerage of businesses is now recognized as a Growth Industry for the 21st Century, and was identified as one of the best small business opportunities of 2005. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, there are over eleven million privately owned businesses in the United States. Approximately one in five businesses will experience change of ownership during the next year. This will result in the transfer of ownership involving more than two million businesses this year or ten trillion dollars of business value transferred over the next 10 years. Brokers generate their income by bringing together buyers and sellers. This comes in the form of a commission paid at a sale closing. When another broker brings a buyer, or a seller (co-brokerage), commissions are shared between both parties. Brokers can also generate income from referring buyers and sellers to other brokers, and can collect fees for collecting data and preparing required marketing literature and for valuation reports prepared by qualified third-party experts.

What income does a broker earn? The Entrepreneurial Studies Department of Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts conducted a national survey of business brokers. The average annual gross commissions were $253,000.00. Earnings are produced from an average of ten sales annually. The survey also points to additional annual revenue of $60,000 from fees collected for marketing and valuation reports and in the case of ROI, AmCorp Expense Recovery Services.
Choices?
You may start your career as an Agent in one of two ways with ROI. First as a Preferred Agent; An ROI Preferred Agent starts his or her career at ROI with four company provided listings ...saving months of work without pay. These listings may generate thousands of dollars in commission to the new agent the first year. ROI's team approach will assist the Preferred Agent to closing the deals with mentoring and training. With Preferred Agent status comes the opportunity for larger commissions. Commission splits as high as 70%!. Under this plan you would also receive status as a Registered Agent of AmCorp Expense Recovery with full training. This provides you with immediate income from expense recovery plus listings for higher income in the near future. A second option exists of offering expense recovery services only.
At ROI, we also hold Corporate Massachusetts and NH Real Estate Licenses. This can provide additional earnings from the sale of commercial real estate associated with a business sale after you obtain a sales agents license.
We are also affiliates of the Business Brokers Alliance of New England, the largest network of business brokers in the north east.. BBANE provides professional support services to co-broke all members listings. We, as participating brokers are affiliated by pursuing a common cause, which is aimed toward bringing buyers and sellers together no matter which broker may have the listing. As affiliates we enjoy the benefits of a standardized system, which encourages affiliate networking and co-brokerage activity nationwide.
