Don Thurston, Mark Thurston, Bruce Thurston and Jeff Thurston have been the working owners and familiar faces of Thurston’s Marine for many years. As of two weeks ago the marina was sold to Bob Conrad, who along with son Alex and GM John Thurston (Son of Mark Thurston) will continue the tradition of good service delivered with a smile. The name has been changed to North Water Marine and the new owners may add some additional product lines and services. All positive for the boating public.
Don Thurston remarked, “My brothers and I wanted to let you know how satisfied we were to have Peter Spanos and Gary Rayberg from ROI represent us in the sale of our marina. It was time for us to retire and you helped that happen. Without your continued efforts this would not have been as much of a success for both sellers and buyer!”
Established in 1972 Thurston’s Marine employs 12 full time and 5 part time employees. The facility spans approximately eight acres with 15 buildings and 43 boat slips on Lake Winnipesaukee. There are six boat houses and a state of the art service facility. Thurston’s is one of the most recognized marinas on Lake Winnipesaukee and has won numerous awards.
The business and property were represented by ROI Corporation, a leading business broker and commercial real estate firm serving NH, MA, RI and Georgia. They are also planning on opening a Maine office later this year. Peter Spanos was the listing broker and Gary Rayberg was the selling broker.
The Thurstons were represented by the law firm of Chisholm, Persson and Ball of Laconia NH with partner Mike Persson handling the transaction.
The buyers were represented by the law firm of Pierce Atwood LLP.
